This isn't spiced, flavored, or watered down.
It's grogue.

Cabo Grogue is Cabo Verde's traditional sugarcane spirit — distilled the way it's been done on the island of Santo Antão for generations. No shortcuts. No tropical clichés. Just the real thing, finally here.

One word, one idea

Morabeza

MORABEZA (n.) — Cabo Verdean Kriolu. Hospitality, warmth, the feeling of being welcomed like family. Every bottle of Cabo Grogue is built around this one word — it's not a tagline, it's the whole point.

Most people don't realize grogue is a rum. It's distilled straight from fermented sugarcane juice — not molasses, like most industrial rum — which puts it in the same family as rhum agricole and Brazilian cachaça, though Cabo Verde developed its own traditions, techniques, and identity around the drink.

The process

①

The Trapiche

Sugarcane is harvested and pressed for its naturally sweet juice.

②

Fermentation

The juice ferments naturally, preserving the character of the sugarcane.

③

Distillation

What emerges is grogue: clear, powerful, and unmistakably itself.

Rooted on the island of Santo Antão since the 15th century.

Sugarcane arrived in Cabo Verde with Portuguese settlement beginning in the 15th century. Over the centuries that followed, growing and distilling it became embedded in rural island life — never a luxury product, but a people's spirit, made close to the land and shared among family, friends, and neighbors.

"Honor the origin. Preserve the culture. Share the spirit of Cabo Verde."

Cabo Grogue was created to carry that heritage to a new generation — from the sugarcane fields and mountain valleys of the island of Santo Antão, to drinkers worldwide.
